Forest bathing with Lisen Sundgren
Stress is something most of us unfortunately have experienced. People need to unwind, slow down and allow the brain to recover to feel good. Research has shown that the nature is an excellent environment to do this, which Artipelag now takes onboard during a few upcoming dates where herbal specialist Lisen Sundgren will hold forest baths in the surroundings of Artipelag.
Lisen Sundgren is famous as herbal specialist, forager (specialist in edible wild plants), writer and lecturer. For more than two decades, she has shared her knowledge through books and courses. Lisen has collaborated as forager with some of the best restaurants in Sweden and has made guest appearances abroad. She is a certified forest therapy guide and her passion and drive is to make people creating a relation to nature.
Forest bath, or shinrin yoku, is a method developed in Japan during the mid-1980’s where the effects of the large urbanisation led to stress and the doctors saw an increase in stress related diseases. A group of researchers started researching on the effects of nature in the human brain and body and came up with some astonishing results. The cause of ill health was found to be “lack of nature”. They developed a method where people walked with a guide in surroundings of natural beauty and open senses in what the nature offers.
During a forest bath, you walk into the forest with a guide who invites to different practices which are beneficial to the health and gives a great sense of well-being. With calm comes great empathy, more creativity and a better ability to cooperate.
Participants of Forest bath will receive 10% discount on books by Lisen Sundberg sold in the shop at Artipelag.
