What is the Imagine van Gogh experience

You begin in the pedagogical room, where you get to know more about van Gogh’s world, who he was, his artistry and technique, the different periods of his work and so much more. Then you enter the large space of Artipelag’s Artbox, where you are immersed in the artworks that are projected on the walls, floor and screens to a musical accompaniment. We recommend that you enjoy the experience from several different angles, rather than staying put in one place.

The experience lasts about an hour, depending on how much time you want to spend on the various elements. You are also welcome to stay longer if you wish. Visitors are admitted every 30 minutes, to keep numbers at an appropriate level.

The experience is suitable for all ages, but is perhaps best for ages 5 and above.

Imagine Van Gogh- the original of immersive art experiences

Imagine Van Gogh is the very first immersive art experience dedicated to Van Gogh created in Image Totale©, a unique way for the viewer to become part of the experience. The art experience has toured the world, from Singapore to Paris, Buenos Aires to Boston, and Vancouver to Montreal.

Imagine Van Gogh is finally in Stockholm, or more precisely, at Artipelag in the Stockholm archipelago.

Imagine Van Gogh is the very first immersive exhibition dedicated to Van Gogh, offering a unique connection to his life. It was originally created for the Beaux de Provence quarries in southern France, the area where Van Gogh used to live.
The art experience was created by Annabelle Mauger & Julien Baron, the first directors of a fully digital immersive experience in the world.

No add-on, no antics.
The creators respect all of the original artworks.

About Vincent van Gogh

With his dramatic brushstrokes and use of colour, Vincent van Gogh had a style all of his own. Imagine van Gogh lets you step right into world-famous paintings such as Starry Night, Sunflowers and Irises. The experience is further enhanced by Artbox’s impressive ceiling height of 12 metres, not to mention music by Mozart, Bach, Saint-Saëns, Delibes and Satie.

Vincent van Gogh was a post-Impressionist painter and one of the leading pioneers of Expressionism. He is known globally for his artistic achievements over a period of almost a decade as an active artist, during which time he created more than 2,000 art works, including 900 oil paintings. Van Gogh’s distinctive style features richly impulsive brushstrokes, bold colours, luminous landscapes, expressive portraits and vivid still lifes.
