The Legacy of Andy Warhol
Past exhibition April 15 – September 25, 2016
The Legacy of Andy Warhol was 2016’s major exhibition at Artipelag over the spring and summer period. Unlike traditional Warhol exhibitions, The Legacy of Andy Warhol was instead an attempt to broaden our understanding of his influence and legacy. Warhol’s footprint is not limited to his boundary-pushing art: he has also influenced our modern lifestyle and commercial areas.
The exhibition provided a unique opportunity to see more of his works that had never before been shown in Sweden, including 40 sketches from the 1950s and the legendary video installation by Andy Warhol and the Velvet Underground, The Exploding Plastic Inevitable.
In the Andy Warhol Pop Up Store visitors could find products from many different companies, all interpreted from Warhol’s artistry and produced with permission from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts for the commercial market.

The Legacy of Andy Warhol
To further understand the legacy of Andy Warhol we interviewed a group of different Swedish experts about what Warhol has meant to them and their different fields. The whole result was shown as a part of the exhibition.
