Artipelag is closed to the public a few days each year — both indoors and outdoors.

In Spring 2026, Artipelag is closed on the following dates:

Admission to the building and our public spaces is free of charge, including Bådan Café & Pâtisseri, Artipelag Restaurant and Artipelag Design Shop. Our nature trails are also free to explore.

If you would like to purchase tickets to our exhibitions, you can do so online on each exhibition page or at the reception desk. Please note that we are a cashless venue.

We do no accept cash as payment. Credit and debit cards from Visa, Mastercard and American Express are accepted. We also accept Swish payments.

Take our direct bus to Artipelag — a convenient, transfer-free journey in just 30 minutes. Our direct buses depart from Kungsbron in central Stockholm and Artipelag. A bus ticket costs SEK 60.

FROM STOCKHOLM

Take the motorway 222 towards Gustavsberg and follow the directions to Hålludden/Artipelag.

FROM VÄRMDÖ/INGARÖ

Take the freeway 222 towards Stockholm, take the exit Värmdö marknad and then take the right on Ingarövägen. Turn left in the roundabout at COOP and thereafter follow directions towards Artipelag. From Gustavsberg, turn right in the roundabout by COOP at Värmdö Marknad and thereafter follow directions.

PARKING

There are 350 parking spaces distributed across four car parks: Björn, Lillemor, Josefin, and Tony. Disabled parking permit holders can park for free in all car parks but must register at the reception at Artipelag.

Please note that the upper parking areas at Artipelag are closed with a barrier approximately 60 minutes after the museum closes for the day. The Lillemor and Björn parking areas remain accessible after the barrier is closed. Overnight parking is not permitted.

Staying overnight in motorhomes or caravans is not allowed in any of the parking areas.

Prices & Payment

Parking at any of Artipelag’s car parks (Lillemor, Björn, Josefin, and Tony) costs SEK 35 per hour for up to 3 hours, after which it is free.

We use the EasyPark system for payment, and we recommend that you download their mobile app from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android).

Charging posts

Five charging stations are available in the Tony car park. Parking is only allowed while charging and for a maximum of three hours. It costs SEK 3.5 per kWh plus SEK 35 per hour for parking. Payment and charging are only possible via EasyPark.

We have a charter bus service that operates between Stockholm city (Kungsbron 2) and Artipelag.

SL BUS FROM SLUSSEN

Take bus 474 från Slussen from Slussen towards Hemmesta or Mölnvik and get off at Värmdö marknad bus stop. From there, you need to cross the street and catch the connecting bus 468 towards Hålludden. Get off at Hålludden (last stop), which is right outside our entrance. The 468 bus only operates once every hour. Plan your journey to match the buses by using the SL travel planner.

From Värmdö marknad, you can also walk to Artipelag. The distance is approximately 3,5 km. Follow the road from Coop and INGO petrol station, and then follow the directions to Artipelag.

A few buses also stop at the Hålludden junction. From there, it is approximately a 1.6 km walk to Artipelag.

From May to September, you can travel to Artipelag by boat on Strömma’s turn-of-the-century vessel M/S Gustafsberg VII. The boat departs from Strandvägen to and from Artipelag, and the journey takes approximately 1.5 hours.

It is possible to cycle to Artipelag from Stockholm. The bicycle route from Slussen is approximately 25 kilometres, and it takes less than 2 hours if you keep a steady pace.

Almost the entire cycle path is separated from car traffic, and several sections run near water and through greenery.

Once at Artipelag, you can lock your bicycle to the bike racks.

For visitors arriving to Artipelag by their own boats, we offer a guest harbour consisting of 25 berths with Y-booms. Visitors to Artipelag may dock their boats up to 24 hours. Please note that services like electricity, garbage collection or restrooms are not available.

The berths have a width of between 2,5m up to 5,3 m. The outer length measures approximately 100 m and is well suited for larger boats.

Kindly note that smoking and making fire is prohibited across the whole area of Artipelag.

We have a few picnic benches along the boardwalk, where you can consume the food and drinks that you bring.

It is not allowed to bring and consume your own food and drinks in Artipelag’s nature or on the outdoor terraces connected to our restaurant or café.

For everyone’s comfort and enjoyment, we also kindly ask that outside food is not consumed inside Artipelag.
