In connection with the closing weekend of the Morandi \/ Edmund de Waal<\/i>\u00a0exhibition, Artipelag will on September 30th<\/sup> arrange a concert with world-renowned soprano singer Kerstin Avemo and a chamber orchestra. The songlist for the evening was developed by conductor Staffan M\u00e5rtensson who was inspired by the exhibition\u2019s questions about concepts like contemplation, meditation, and silence.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n

Kerstin Avemo<\/a>\u00a0will perform works by H\u00e4ndel, Villa-Lobos and Beethoven. The orchestra will join with string music by P\u00e4rt and Elfrida Andr\u00e9, baroque music by Mozart, and Schubert\u2019s fifth symphony.<\/p>\r\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n

The\u00a0Morandi \/ Edmund de Waal<\/em><\/a>\u00a0exhibition continues until October 1st<\/sup>, 2017. Here, the contemporary British ceramic artist and author Edmund de Waal meets the cultured Italian painter Giorgio Morando who devoted much of his professional career to the still life of everyday ceramic objects. It is not, however, the ceramics that link these artists, but an effort to provide space for slow contemplation and lingering afterthought.<\/p>\r\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n

An art experience at Artipelag is more than just the exhibits; nature, architecture, and light \u2013 everything interacts with its surrounding environment and the music at this special concert is intended to help deepen your visit.<\/p>\r\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n

Kerstin Avemo was educated at the Stockholm Opera School and sings professionally on some of Europe\u2019s largest stages. She has recently had huge success in La Traviata<\/em>\u00a0at the Gothenburg Opera House. At Artipelag, she was last seen in Autumn 2014, performing H\u00e4ndel\u2019s\u00a0Xerxes<\/em>. In the film world, Kerstin Avemo is a recurring name \u2013 among other roles, she played alongside John Malkovich in\u00a0Casanova Variations<\/em>.<\/p>\r\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n

In addition to conductor, Staffan M\u00e5rtensson has been a solo clarinetist in the Royal Chapel and has served as the artistic director of \u00d6sterg\u00f6tland\u2019s Music Days. For this concert, he has put together a chamber orchestra with some of Stockholm\u2019s premier young musicians.<\/p>\r\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n

The concert begins at 7.30 pm in the Artbox<\/a>\u00a0and will run for approximately 70 minutes. There will be a 30 minute intermission at the mid-way mark.<\/p>\r\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n

Transportation<\/h3>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n

A direct bus from Stockholm city centre to Artipelag will depart at 4.30 pm and 6.30 pm. A round-trip journey is SEK 100 per person. A seat on the bus can be booked in conjunction with your ticket purchase.<\/p>\r\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n

\n \r\n

The buses, which are yellow and operated by Traveller<\/a>, depart from Vasagatan near Centralplan 9<\/a> (the small turnaround space outside of O\u2019Leary\u2019s<\/a>). A sign with the text \u201dArtipelag\u201d can be found at the departure point.<\/p>\r\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n

The buffet includes a selection of starters, several hot dishes, soup, salad bar, marmalade and cheese tray, homemade bread, fresh fruit, coffee and tea. In addition, we will be offering a delicious dessert table signed our Pastry chef Fredrik Otterberg consisting of various sweet delights to finish your meal. The Opera Buffet is served from 5 pm. Priced at SEK 345.<\/p>\r\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n
